I worked in a Montessori school and recently, like many of you, found myself struggling to put the school online with very little time to prepare. I wrote down the entire journey of how we got there.

How a small Montessori school transformed into an online school overnight.

In this article, I want to focus on one of the tools that we end up using.

Once we got through the initial rush to get teachers and students online, one problem became apparent. How do we facilitate effective communication between parents and teachers? We have always sent out announcements through email, Facebook and our website. However, with everybody being remote only, the complexity and urgency of parent-teacher communication increased by order of magnitudes.

For example:

Parents never have to figure out which classroom their kids need to go to throughout the day.

Parents never have to worry about printing out worksheets ahead of class.

Parents never have to act as IT support.

And many day-to-day questions, like:

Does my child have homework this week?

Is tomorrow yoga day?
